 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND DEPLOY MASSIVELY AHEAD OF YULETIDE SEASON, ASSURES RESIDENTS OF ADEQUATE SECURITY


The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+ has assured Deltans of a hitch free Christmas celebration. The Commissioner of Police has ordered massive deployment of Personnel across the State to provide adequate security before, during and after the celebration to ensure protection of all residents in the State and the successes of all activities lined up to mark the celebration.  The CP  directed that all Area Commanders, DPOS and Tactical Commanders to deploy men to all venues of the Celebrations and other resort centres to avoid  mischief makers showing their ugly faces and causing any form of mayhem for law abiding citizens in the State and  to ensure proper supervision of their men deployed. Police Patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, safer highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response squad, Quick Response Squad, and Eagle-Net Special Squad for this purpose. 

Traffic Control at the Head bridge has equally been taken care of as  both Police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed solely for the purpose of traffic control  while the Divisional Police Officers ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions Asaba and the State Traffic Officer have been tasked with the responsibility of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.

The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police incharge Operation to organize Continuous ‘OPERATION SHOW OF FORCE’ with effect from Tuesday 20th, Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th December 2022 in all parts of the State and to be supervised by the eight Area Commanders with a view to ensuring a hitch free Yuletide period. 

He therefore urges members of the public to be law abiding and continue to support the Police in the fight against crime and criminality while assuring them of the Command’s commitment in providing security, maintenance of law and order,  protection of lives and properties among other duties.

The CP on behalf of Officers and men of Command wishes all Deltans, residents in the State and Nigerians in general a hitch free celebration.
