*Governor Soludo In Convivial Visit To Chief Obiano*

By Paul Nwosu

It was in an ennobling atmosphere of camaraderie that Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, met with his immediate predecessor, Chief Willie Maduburochukwu Obiano, in Obianos Aguleri country home on Sunday, December 18.

Governor Soludo had high commendation for the legacy projects Chief Obiano put in place while in office as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governor in Anambra State.

Mr. Governor used the auspicious visit to restate that the Anambra State government is APGA and should therefore be sustained, being the third-biggest political party in the country.

The courtesy visit served as a profound opportunity for Governor Soludo to emphasize that Chief Obiano was instrumental in building APGA to its present pedestal.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo; the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim; the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu; Head of Service, Barr. (Mrs) Theodore Igwegbe and a few other Anambra State Executive Council members, Governor Soludo said that he feels at home visiting Chief Obiano.

According to Mr. Governor, "Just like I said when we met, a week today is Christmas. Today is the 18th, and yesterday was the 17th which marks exactly my nine months in office. This is the season of Yuletide, and we have come to pay you a courtesy call, to say Merry Christmas to you. Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra".

Continuing in the convivial mood, Governor Soludo said: "We are going into the election, and the APGA flag will keep flying. I didnt tell my entourage where I was going initially. I selected a few of them which of course you are familiar with. We have come to felicitate with you, and this is the way we would like it to be. You led Anambra for 8 years which isnt 8 days. We have been in the office for just 9 months.”

Governor Soludos fraternal connection with Chief Obiano left many tale-bearers who said the duo had been at war with the hard task of swallowing their vomit. The cordial relationship between the predecessor and his successor could never have been bettered or matched across the Nigerian nation.

Governor Soludo did not hide his high respect for Chief Obiano as he said: "Anambra and Nigeria need your wealth of knowledge and experience. I will be counting on you, and wish we had a college of former governors to guide the incumbents, especially for those from APGA. Two weeks today will be the New Year, and we are looking forward to a more glorious and productive 2023. We are counting on your wise counsel and partnership because we deeply appreciate you".

Mr. Governor also spoke on the Anambra North Senatorial ambition of Chief Obiano's wife, Ebelechukwu. He assured her of his unalloyed support, stressing: "APGA has to win everywhere. The first election is in February, and the second is in March. We will reconstitute again to give Anambra the dividends of democracy because we are progressives.”

Speaking on Chief Obiano's Legacy Projects, Governor Soludo said: "I was at the Anambra Airport, and I sincerely appreciate you for the construction of the edifice. Flying from Anambra to other states is now possible. Indeed, this is a legacy of the APGA government. Despite all the constraints, we will make Anambra a shining light because thats what we are - the Light of the Nation.”

Chief Obiano, in his own tidings at the august gathering, solicited support for Governor Soludos administration. The former governor stated that development can only happen with collective efforts, and charged the people to trust and believe in Governor Soludo. He beseeched Ndi-Anambra to always offer their advice to Governor Soludo.

For the doomsayers, the visit of Governor Soludo to Chief Obiano is akin to a knockout punch. Soludo remains as ever happy with Chief Obiano for backing his consequential election and has ever since put APGA in a good stead to beat all-comers in the forthcoming elections.
