 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. IMO PLAYS HOST TO THE BEST OF NOLLYWOOD AWARDS


In yet another proof of safety and hospitality, Imo State has continued to play host to national events as the 2022 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards was held at Imo Concord Hotel in Owerri, Imo State.

Governor Uzodimma who was the Chief Host handed out some of the awards of the night to some of the awardees in the Nigerian movie industry.

The Governor commended the organizers for choosing Imo as their venue for this year's event.

Uzodimma reiterated that Imo State is very safe and hospitable for all Nigerians and remains the destination of choice for events and conferences. 

The Governor told the movie industry professionals that the,
Shared Prosperity Government will continue to support the Best of Nollywood. 

Speaking earlier, the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, noted that Owerri is a hub of activities, and the security situation is particularly stable.

It is worthy of note that the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON Awards) is an annual film event presented by Best of Nollywood Magazine, honouring outstanding achievements in the Nigerian Movie Industry. The first edition was held on 6 December 2009, in Ikeja, Lagos State.
