U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates. How the Visa Bond Policy Works Under the permanent guidelines, U.S. consular officers have the discretion to instruct eligible applicants to post a bond as a prerequisite for visa issuance. 2023: OKOWA BEGS WIKE OVER PDP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY FALLOUT

The Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Sen. Idea to Okowa has appeal to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on the need for genuine reconciliation on thorny issues rocking the party.

Governor Okowa who made this appealed alongside with the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom disclosed this on Saturday while speaking with newsmen in Makurdi.

Okowa while speaking noted that the delay in meeting with Governor Wike was due to his trip abroad and now that his is back, the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar will do all to reconcile issues with him.

Speaking alongside, Governor Ortom emphasised that his advice on the need to appease the Rivers State Governor is the best way to go, adding that he is fully behind moves to reconcile with Wike for the overall interest of the party as all hands must be on deck ahead of the 2023 general elections.

However, Wike on returning to Nigeria on Friday had called Atiku Abubakar, a liar, vowing to respond to both the party’s flagbearer and the party chieftains whom he described as Atiku’s ‘attack dogs’ one-by-one and line by line in due time.

He said posterity would not forgive him should he fail to set the record straight and promised to clear the air after the commissioning of the projects lined up for inauguration by the state government.

On the reconciliation committee set up by the PDP leadership, Governor Wike stated that former Vice President Atiku had yet to send any delegation to him.

He, however, said a former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, met with him in Spain, although in his personal capacity.
