Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) have cleared beggars and roadside traders who constitute nuisance on the pedestrian bridge located at UNIZIK Temporary site along Enugu-Onitsha expressway, Awka.

Speaking to the ABS, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Mr. Ossy Onuko said that the exercise was to ensure sanity and allow seamless movement of people on the bridge.

Mr. Onuko regretted that beggars and people display their goods on the bridge have been constituting nuisance on the bridge, as well as causing unnecessary human traffic on the bridge, thereby giving room for miscreants to cause problem on the bridge.

He noted that the agency will continue to monitor the bridge to ensure that those people do not return, as the governmemt of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is determined to entrench a better society for Anambra residents.

The ACTDA boss made it clear that those constituting nuisance within the Awka Capital Territory will be severely dealt with, and warned people to always be law abiding.

Mr. Onuko pointed out that the bridge is strategic to the safety of those who cross from one end to the other along the ever busy Enugu-Onitsha express road, and as such, should be made clean and safe for people at all times.
