 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

WHY WE EXECUTED 45 RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS IN BENUE - GOV. ORTOM

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says no fewer than 45 rural electrification projects have been executed by his administration.

According to the Governor, the projects which were executed in different communities across the state, were aimed at boosting socio-economic activities.

Governor Ortom stated this on Monday while commissioning a rural electrification project in Kpengwa community, Kohov, Shangev-Ya in Kwande Local Government Council.

The Governor noted that milestones were achieved by his administration in rural development, particularly in the provision of electricity to enhance economic activities and give the rural dwellers a new lease of life.

He said he had directed his Commissioners from the respective communities to commission the projects before the exit of his administration in a few days.

Governor Ortom said he would continue to execute his mandate for the people of the State until the expiration of his tenure.

He added that the recruitment of more teachers was to fill up the existing vacancies and reinforce the teaching service in the state.

Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, Hon. Orjiir Gbande and an indigene of the area, Chief Emmanuel Viashima expressed appreciation to the Governor for executing the project, stating that it had made life more comfortable for the people of the area.
