 Abia Government Berates NDC Gubernatorial Candidate Ogah Over Claims of Supporting Atiku The Abia State Government has dismissed allegations by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) gubernatorial candidate in the state, Etugo Ogah, that it is backing Atiku Abubakar and Chibuike Amaechi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 presidential election. Ogah made the claim while addressing members of his party recently. He alleged that the Abia State Government is neither supporting President Bola Tinubu nor Peter Obi, but is instead supporting Atiku Abubakar and Amaechi. “The present government of Abia, they are not supporting Tinubu or Peter Obi, they are supporting Atiku and Amaechi and I want to reveal it to you people,” Ogah was quoted as saying. Agency Donates Items to inmates at Aguata, Nnewi Correctional Centres

The Director, Agency for Mass Literacy Adult and non formal Education, Mrs Ebele Ononihu, says the Agency is concerned about the comfort of the inmates, especially those qualified to take the Basic Education Certificate examination.

The Agency has donated items to Aguata and Nnewi correctional, respectively, to provide comfort during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the state.

The items donated, through prisons officials include reading tables and chairs, instructional materials (pencil, pen, text books, exercise books, ereaser).

"With these gift items, the inmates are assured of quality teaching and learning as well as comfortable sitting arrangements for the ongoing examination".

According to her, they were at the centre  also to convey approval  for the centre to be used as an examination centres for( BECE) from the Commissioner Ministry of Basic Education, Prof.Ngozi Chuma-udeh

Mrs Ononiuhu, said  that they should rather continue to be good ambassadors of the Lord, while remaining penitent and seeking forgiveness, guidance and mercy from God, adding that their travail is temporary.

"We, therefore, promise to follow up on some of the identified needs of the Adult learner's in the Correctional Centres".

The Assistant Controllers Correctional (ACC), incharge of both Centres, thanked the madam Commissioner, Ministry of Basic Education, Prof. Chuma udeh and Director Agency for Mass Literacy Adult and non formal Education Mrs Ononihu, for their prompt response to the distress call from the Correctional centres, complaining the sorry State of classroom, reading and learning items in the centre before the intervention visit.

Others in the delegation team include Emmanuel Okeke, Auditor of the Agency, and  Priscilla Mebuge Education officer. (MOI).
