Bear with Anambra Govt, expansion brings demolition, says APGA Chieftain

By David Okpala/Stella Okpala

An APGA Chieftain, Mr Joe Mbakwe has called on traders within Ekwulobia Round About to bear with Anambra State Government, as no meaningful development could be achieved without sacrifice.

He said this while interacting with information officers shortly after Mass, at St. Paul's Catholic Church Premises, Akpo, Aguata LGA, on July 9.

Mr Mbakwe, former Councillor Akpo said, "it is painful seeing traders being displaced in a harsh economy like ours.

"We must not suffocate at holdups, waste precious time that could have been used for development and progress, at Ekwulobia Round About, we need to pay the price.

"Nobody eats omelette without breaking eggs. We are in dare need of a flyover at Ekwulobia Round About. It is not possible to achieve it without demolitions, so, the destruction is apt for proper construction."

Mbakwe enjoined traders, property owners within the area, not to call down fire on Gov. Soludo but pray for Anambra State Government for resources to deliver the project at schedule.

He pleaded with those having shrines or religious related institution around there to relocate, urging them to plead with their gods to understand.

The APGA chieftain added that Soludo is highly educated, an economist of high repute. So, any property owner with legitimate documents shall get adequate compensation.

"They only have to take their case to the authorities concerned. I will also suggest to the government to see how they can institute a relief market to accommodate displayed traders.

"This will also help to engage their mind positively as they often say, an idle mind is devil's workshop."

Mbakwe extolled heads of government of South East and South South Geopolitical Zones of Nigeria for their doggedness to securing lives and properties.

He urged them to come together irrespective of party affiliations, self/ethnicity, make federal government understand the importance of releasing Nnamdi Kanu. There could be no better time than now.

"We need him released so as to know if proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is responsible for sit at home order or criminals outside their camp.

"The way innocent citizens scamper for safety each time they talk about this sit at home is becoming unbearable. Sometimes, they run into problems, yet unable to tell what was pursuing them.

"Nnamdi Kanu's continued detention is doing more harm than good to innocent Nigerians and I wish federal government release him to Igbo leaders for advice. (MOI)
