 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Six Suspected Cultists killed in Rivers Community



Rivers State Police Command has arrested six Kidnappers and killed six other suspected cultists at Obelle town in Emohua Local Government Area of the State terrorizing Emohua Local Government Area section of the East West road.


The Commissioner of Police,  Nwonyi Emeka  in a press



briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt said operatives of Anti-cultism and Tactical units stormed the hideout of a gang led by one Uchechukwu Daniel and on sighting the Police, the hoodlums opened fire.


CP Emeka disclosed that the Police responded and in exchange of gunfire six of the hoodlums were fatally wounded,six arrested while others ran with bullet wounds.


The police Boss explained that  on Friday 30th June 2023 Police Operatives on patrol along King Perekule junction GRA, PortHarcourt intercepted and rescued a victim who narrated how one of their friends was kidnapped .

The commissioner revealed that Officers acting on credible information trailed  kidnappers to their hideout,where victims were rescued unhurt at Ozuoha in IKwerre Local Government Area while one suspect Buchi David was arrested.


Our Correspondent reports that exhibits recovered include one locally fabricated gun,cut to size guns, six cartridges, empty shell and iphone.


In a related development, on Friday 30th June, 2023  cult related activity were taken place at hospital road, Bonny,the cultists ran away on sighting the Police while  one pistol,a bag and techno phone were recovered.


Similarly, Rivers Police Boss revealed that on June 20,2023 Special Area Division at Rumudomaya  and local vigilance group raided criminal hideout . 


He stated that suspects both male and female aged between  5 to 28  were arrested, different hard drugs recovered.

CP Emeka further explained that at Slaughter behind Rumuokoro market,3 PMF uniforms, Army cap,locally fabricated pistol,live cartridges were recovered when the combined team of Policemen and vigilante stormed the hideout.


The Rivers Police CP also revealed that operatives of  Anti-cultism unit, Bori annex on 5th July 2023 while on patrol at Yokuru in Khana Local Government Area  arrested one Baridara Baridam popularly known as Ojukwu who has  being on wanted list of Police.


He said the suspect is a member of three man gang including  one Aka Mali and Lekia terrorizing Ogoni axis of East West road.


CP Nwonyi listed exhibits recovered from the suspect  to include two AK 47 riffles.
