Anambra State Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court Awka has granted one Mr Onyebara custody of her grandchild after series of abuse by biological mother.

The order was granted in court after the women and social welfare Commissioner rescued the 7 year old girl from her abusive mother Ogochukwu Onyebara who maltreats, abuses and inflicts her with severe bodily injuries.

Also the said mother Ogochukwu was arrested, detained and charged to court on offenses bothering on child abuse.

The ministry after giving the 7 year old medical treatment, traced her family and prayed the court to grant her order to reunite the child with her grandparents.

According to eye witnesses, the abusive mother usually uses hot heated knife to inflict injury on the said child and also beats her up mercilessly which made them to contact the ministry for rescue.

As at the time of this report, the ministry has handed over the said child to her grandfather Mr Onyebara according to the order of the court, while we await the court's final judgment even though the mother is still standing trial.
