 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates. Man, 43, dies in Kwara fish pond


An unidentified 43- year- old man has died in a fish pond in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.


Spokesperson of Fire Service Hassan Adekunle said that the yet-to-be-identified deceased was gathering herbal leaves before the unfortunate incident.


According to Adekunle: “Kwara State Fire Service responded to an emergency call at Alibarika community in Ogidi, Ilorin South Local Government area, Kwara State, at approximately 6:24am on Saturday.


“The firefighters conducted a rescue operation and tragically discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man, approximately 43 years of age, in an abandoned fish pond. 


“It is believed that the cause of this unfortunate incident was the man accidentally slipped into the pond, which was concealed by overgrown grasses. 


“He was near the pond, attempting to gather herbal leaves when the accident occurred.


“Following the successful recovery operation, the Kwara Fire Service personnel handed over the deceased to the authorities at Nigeria Police G’ Division in Oloje, Ilorin, for further investigation and necessary procedures.”


He urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.
