  A 23-year-old Nigerian woman identified as Osarugbe, has died in Libya. African beauty products   She passed away at about 11:33am on Friday, April 4, 2025 after battling illness.    Anti-human trafficking advocate, Yakubu Oyiza and her team had been raising money to bring her back to Nigeria for better medical treatment as hospitals in Libya rejected her.    According to Oyiza, documents for burial, autopsy, and land to bury her in Libya have been arranged, all costing approximately 350,000.   She alleged that the family abandoned her since she fell sick and had earlier refused to go to Kano and pick her up the day she was supposed to be brought back to Nigeria.    In a Facebook post on Saturday, April 5, Oyiza revealed that some family members of the deceased called them asking for Osas’ properties. PERSONNEL WELFARE: IGP VISITS INJURED POLICE INSPECTOR AT NATIONAL HOSPITAL ABUJA


Frowns at Attacking Police Officers

The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., on Thursday 28th September, 2023, visited the National Trauma Centre, National Hospital, today to personally assess the condition of a Police Inspector, Omeje Matthew, who was brutally attacked and macheted by armed hoodlums at his residence in Kabusa, Abuja. 

The IGP emphasized that the attack on a Police Officer in the line of duty or off-duty is an attack on the entire law enforcement community and the peace and security of our society. The IGP, who frowns at attacking police personnel, warns in the strongest terms that such attacks will not be tolerated, and the perpetrators will face the full force of the law. 

The IGP has directed the FCT Commissioner of Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice. The IGP also seizes the opportunity to charge other Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders to ensure proper closure of all pending investigations into attacks on police officers and men within their respective jurisdictions.

The Inspector General of Police while extending his heartfelt wishes for the speedy recovery of the assaulted Police Inspector and others who are in the same situation, and assuring them and their families of the full support and assistance of the Nigeria Police Force, calls on the public to cooperate with the Police in providing information that can aid in the swift resolution of this case.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
