 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. Sierra Leone Police Arrest Nigerian Man Declared Wanted For Allegedly Killing Girlfriend  

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the arrest of one Benjamin Nnanyereugo for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, by the Sierra Leonean police force.

Speaking with our correspondent on Saturday morning, Hundeyin said the Nigerian police have confirmed his arrest.

"He was arrested by the Sierra Leone Police Force, and we are working on extradition of him to Nigeria," he said.

Details of his arrest are still sketchy at the time of filling this report.

Earlier, the Lagos State Police Command had declared Nnanyereugo wanted for the death of his girlfriend.

The police, in a statement, said Nnanyereugo was suspected to have murdered the 21-year-old lady on July 13, 2023, in his home at Oral Estate in the Ajah area of the state.

The statement read in part, "Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted.

The suspect is 26, approximately 5'95'9 ft tall, and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo, and pidgin English fluently.
