The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. Some women place marriage above God – Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has taken a swipe at married women who downplay the role of God in their union, warning them to desist from such dealings.

Okonkwo, who is known for voicing his opinion on relationships and marriages, revealed that some women’s greatest priority is marriage and it has taken over their overall wellbeing.

He emphasised in a tweet that some women incorrectly prioritise marriage over all other considerations, including their relationship with God, their personal well-being, and the welfare of their future children.

He stressed the value of finding personal fulfillment, noting that before a woman can be content in a marriage, she must first discover delight in her single life.

Using the biblical account of Esau, Pastor Okonkwo made the point that snap decisions never work out well.

He cited Esau’s impetuous act of exchanging his birthright for a supper to show how acting out of desperation can result in bad decisions, particularly when marriage is involved.

He wrote: “Some women place marriage above God, above their own well-being and even that of their unborn children.

“Anything done in desperation never births something good …ask Esau. Ladies one of the major steps to being happily married is being happily single.”
