 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆, 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝗡𝗻𝗲𝗯𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝟲𝟭


Anayo Nnebe (born in 1963) popularly known as Ichele Awka, served as the Speaker of the Anambra State Assembly from 2007 to 2011.


He is from Umuokpu Village, Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.


In 2015, he was elected to represent Awka North and South Federal Constituency under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


In April 2018, Nnebe announced his defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Grand Alliance and contested again to represent Awka North and South Federal Constituency but lost to PDP. 


Before his death, he was an appointee of the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Legislative Matters.
