Abiodun's Supreme Court Victory Ordained By God-Ogun Council Of Obas

*Judgement Impetus For More Infrastructure, People's Welfare - Governor

The Ogun State Council of Obas has described Governor Dapo Abiodun's Supreme Court victory as an act of God, saying that the governor has performed exceedingly well.

The council members were at the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Tuesday to felicitated the governor on his latest electoral victory against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Ladi Adebutu.

The Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas and the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi who spoke on behalf of the council members, Baales, high chiefs numbering about 5,000, on Tuesday, said that they are happy and glad that the Supreme Court affirmed the victory of the governor.

"It is an act of God; it is only what pleases God that he will do. The victory is a manifestation of God's benevolence in his (governor) life, his family, and indeed the whole of the state. We are all very joyful.

"He has done very well. Like we said, there is always room for improvement, but he has done very well. We can all attest to that. We still believe his best is yet to come," he said.

The meeting with the governor had in attendance the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who was represented by the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Adebajo.

Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun said that his victory at the Supreme Court would further spur the infrastructural policy of his administration.

He noted that the well-being of the people would be given priority attention in his second term in office.

The governor, who made the declaration in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, when he received members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Pilot, Forum of Councillors from the 236 Wards and Forum of former Councillors (2016-2019) from the 20 local government areas, said since God has given him victory, it is imperative  to devote the remaining part of his tenure to serve the people the more.

He said: "I want to assure you that we will continue to do what we have done in the last four and a half years. All the foundation that we have established, we will build on. We will ensure that we put in place and implement lasting legacies that this administration would be referred to and talked about for many future generations.

"I have said it over and over again that this second tenure, we will do projects, we will continue to build infrastructure like houses, roads, build and renovate schools and hospitals as well as commission our airport.

"We will take care of our people because your welfare and wellbeing are now our priority."

Abiodun recalled the journey that culminated into his victory, saying: "We have won this election four times. We won the election on March 18, they went to the Tribunal. They lost. After the Tribunal, they went to the Appeal Court and lost. They went to the Supreme Court and also lost.

"The Almighty God would have made it such that they would not have gone to the Tribunal or maybe stopped at the Tribunal, but the Almighty knows the end from the beginning. He wanted to ensure that only Him takes the glory, and because of that, He allowed them to please themselves and do their worst so that He can take the glory that He, God, has done it."

While ascribing the victory to those who worked tirelessly during the campaign and election, Prince Abiodun reminded them of the need to continually pray for the administration to end gloriously in 2027.

Speaking earlier, Idowu Solaro of the APC Campaign Pilot, Adeleye Olarenwaju from the Forum of Councillors and Kayode Olumide from Forum of former Councillors (2016-2019, thanked God for the favourable judgement at the apex court, saying they were in the governor's office to felicitate and appreciate God for the victory.
