CBN DEBUNKS FAKE NEWS ON NEW N5,000 AND N10,000 BANKNOTES.(PHOTO).

  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. Sports: Police Set, Plan for 14th Biennial Games in Ibadan

The Nigeria Police Force has commenced intensive plans towards its 14th Biennial Games, scheduled to hold from 25th February to 2nd March 2024, in the beautiful city of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Sequel to the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Force Sports Officer, CP Patrick Atayero, and heads of various committees are expected to converge in Ibadan from Friday 12th January to Sunday 14th January 2024 for meetings and assessments of facilities, in conjunction with the Oyo State Government's team to perfect the arrangement for a successful sports festival in Oyo State. 

The last edition, 13th Biennial Police Games, was held in uyo, Akwa Ibom State from 23rd to 30th of November, 2023.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
