 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  AFCON 2023: Super Eagles deserved victory over Angola – Peseiro


Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has praised his players for another gritty display following the team’s 1-0 win over Angola in their quarter-final tie at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ademola Lookman fired home the winning goal for the Super Eagles five minutes before the break.

The Super Eagles wasted a number of chances in the game but were able to protect their lead.

Peseiro eulogised his players for working hard to achieve victory in the game.

“We played a good game, Angola showed they deserved to be here. We created two chances in the first half and hit the post in the first half.

“I’m very happy with my players. We scored once goal and could have had one or two more.

“My team did well against a good team. We controlled the game and dominated our opponent.

“In the first half, we played well, closed down the spaces and didn’t give them room to operate.

“After the break, Angola came out more and we had chances on the counter attack which we didn’t utilise.

“I’m happy for my players, we deserved to win the game. I want to congratulate them on this victory.”
