 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  GOV. SANWO-OLU INAUGURATES SPECIAL DISPENSATION PALLIATIVE ADVISORY COMMITTEE AT THE LAGOS HOUSE, MARINA, ON SATURDAY, 24TH FEBRUARY 2024


 I am pleased to announce the inauguration of the Lagos State Special Dispensation 'Palliative' Advisory Committee, responsible for our welfare packages, dual-win feeding strategy, amongst other direct intervention initiatives.


Our committee, dedicated to transparency and merit, comprises members selected from major stakeholders groups across Lagos. They include: Imam Abdulazeez Onike, Chief Missioner of NASFAT; Pastor Godman Akinlabi, Senior Pastor of Elevation Church; Hon Seyi Sowunmi, LP Reps member; Mrs Joe Okei-Odumakin; Hon Kolade Alabi; Barrister Taofeeq Ganiu (Former PDP Pub Secretary); Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron (LP Member, Former DFID official); Hon. Ademola Shabi (Rep, LAHA); Comrade Biliaminu Oba (Youth Representative); Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of LG (Secretary of the committee); Eze Anaba, President, Nigerian Guild of Editors; and Mrs. Sola Salako-Ajulo (Consumer Rights Advocate).


These individuals bring diverse expertise, and their work will be guided by the principles of empathy and dignity as we strive to make a significant impact in serving our people.
