  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician.  Oyo suspended traditional ruler over links to illegal miners – Commissioner


The Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade has revealed the rationale behind the suspension of one of the traditional rulers in the state. 

The state governor had earlier announced the suspension of the Onido of Ido, Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola.

Oyelade in a statement issued on Friday, said that the traditional ruler was suspended over links with illegal miners in the state.

Oyelade noted that the state government will hit hard at anyone, no matter how highly placed, who contravenes the law.

He said the state government took the tough measure to send signals to those aiding and abetting criminals within the state that they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Oyelade said, “In the light of our recent experience and government daily efforts to rid our land of criminals, we are sending the signal to all like-minded elements to vacate our zone or be caught and brought to justice.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
