 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. THE NEW AFRICA CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR MYCOTOXIN AND FOOD SAFETY FUT MINNA IS POISED TO REDUCE CASES OF CANCER  IN NIGERIA.


The Director Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety Federal University of Technology Minna Niger state Professor Hussaini Anthony Makun has expressed optimism that the commissioning of  the centre will helped to reduce current increase in cases of cancer and other diceases in Nigeria.


He stated this after the commissioning of the multi million naira edifice at the Gidan Kwano campus of FUT Minna.


Professor Hussaini Anthony explained that already masters and phd students from twelve African countries are currently on capacity building and research using the state of the earth equipments at the centre to prevent and control any poison from our food.


According to him mycotoxin are those harmful substances that causes cancer of the liver and kidney diseases which the centre is poised to removing all forms of antibiotics from our grains through the use of I C P E O S and PCR machines.


On the issue of African students coming to the university Professor Hussaini Anthony explained that the way media blows issue of insecurity scares students from other countries to come to the university and called for a change of attitude.


He said while the centre is partnering with Standard Organization of Nigeria,NAFDAC will also benefit from their researches for maximum benefit.


About one million naira was expended for the construction and equiping of Africa Center of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety by the Federal Government facilitated by World Bank under the facilitation of National Universities Commission NUC. 


The remodelled FUT gate which was executed through the support of the Vice Chancellor Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta was commissioned by representative of Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago the state Head of Service Alh Abubakar Salisu.
