 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways.  Budget padding: Senate to review Ningi’s suspension – Akpabio


Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that the Senate is set to recall Senator Abdul Ningi from his three-month suspension.


He disclosed this while answering questions from reporters on arrival from the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.


Akpabio said the Senate will soon review the three-month suspension it slammed on Ningi for claiming that the 2024 budget was allegedly padded with the sum of N3.7 trillion.


 Ningi had on Thursday, in a letter written by his counsel, Femi Falana SAN, requested reinstatement to the Senate.


Akpabio pointed out that even though he had not seen the letter, the matter would be resolved like a family affair.


He said: “It is a parliamentary decision. I have not seen the letter yet. But Senator Ningi is one of us. I mean, what is suspension?”
