 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  JUBILATION AS PIPE-BORNE WATER RETURNS IN ENUGWU - AGIDI

The community of Enugwu-Agidi is rejoicing as Anambra State Government restored pipe-borne water.


President General of the community, Amb. Chukwuemeka Onuorah confirmed the restoration of the essential service and expressed gratitude on behalf of the community for the authorities' efforts to bring back this vital resource after a prolonged absence.


 The PG stated this during a technical handover of solar powered water borehole project at Oganiru Primary School, Enugwu -Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.


He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for finding their community worthy to benefit in this first phase of water rehabilitation, emphasised that his community is very happy to see the water come back to life and also ready to receive more developmental projects in Enugwu-Agidi.


According to him, this is first of it's kind as the solution government is modernizing every sector simultaneously and fulfilling his campaign promises too. He then pledged of their maximum support to see that the facility stands in the test of time.


On his part, the Transition Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area Amb Clem Aguiyi (Esq) who is an indigene of Enugwu -Agidi, thanked the state government for coming to their aid.


He stated his community's readiness to partner with the state government by providing counterpart fund  to reactivate other abandoned water projects in their community.


Speaking further, Mr. Aguiyi advised Enugwu -Agidi women to embark on agriculture as the means of surviving this hard economy.


He promised to support them by providing high yield cassava stem to farmers while urging them to embrace peace, love and kindness and to 

 leave good legacy to their children in order to attract more developmental projects to their community.


The Program Manager, RUWASSA and the new Director of Water Department In the Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Mr Tochukwu Nwosu maintained that the water is extended to the toilet facility in the school to help in maintaining clean environment.


He then, enjoined them to take full ownership and management of the water facility.


The high point of the event featured handing over the water project to the school management and Enugwu-Agidi community and dancing by different women organizations.
