 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Oyo: 14 suspected thugs arrested over attack on electoral officials


No fewer than 14 suspected political thugs have been arrested for attacking electoral officials and allegedly snatching ballot papers meant for election in Kajola local government area of Oyo State slated for Saturday.

Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Isiaka Olagunju, confirmed the attack on Friday.

Olagunju maintained that the Divisional Police Officer in the town had been mandated to arrest the suspects.

He further debunked rumors claiming that ballot papers were snatched during the attack.

Olagunju said, “That is not true. The fact is that there was an attack on our officials last night. Our officials were attacked at our office at Okeho. No ballot paper was snatched.

“In fact, the DPO of Okeho and other security agencies followed our Electoral Officer back to Ibadan. They just went back to Okeho now. And we have directed the DPO of Okeho to arrest the suspects.”
