 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  EFCC Arrests Two for Currency Racketeering in Enugu

 

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested the duo of Nweke Daniel Kelechi and Iroude Chibuzor in connection with alleged currency racketeering of N850, 000. 00 (Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).

 

They were arrested by members of the Special Task Force of the Commission attached to the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC on Sunday, May 26, 2024 during a sting operation around United Bank for Africa (UBA), ESBS, Enugu State, following days of surveillance and actionable intelligence.

 

During the sting operation, Chibuzor was initially arrested. Upon investigation, it was discovered that he was working for Kelechi, who authorised him to sell new Naira notes.

 

The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
