 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  FG suspends Air Nigeria project indefinitely amidst identity concerns


In a significant turn of events, the Federal Government has taken the decision to suspend the Air Nigeria Airline project indefinitely.


This announcement came from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, during a Ministerial briefing held to commemorate the first year of the Tinubu administration.


Keyamo revealed that the decision to suspend the project stemmed from the realization that the airline was not truly a Nigerian entity, but rather an attempt to disguise a foreign airline as a national carrier.


This revelation underscores the government’s perceived commitment to transparency and the protection of Nigeria’s aviation interests.


The suspension of the Air Nigeria project marks a critical development in the nation’s aviation sector and reflects the government’s determination to prioritize the establishment of genuine and sustainable aviation solutions for the country.
