 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. In a fresh new perspective, singer Timi Dakolo has weighed in on Mohbad’s autopsy results. 


Taking to the X-platform, he expressed how it was surprising that his autopsy results were still unfounded. He went on to reveal that in crime series, they find bodies even after the years of the person being dead and they are still able to tell the cause of death.


In his words, he had this to say,


“except all the crime series I’ve been watching are lying to me. They find bodies after years of being dead and still tell us the cause of death.”.

Mohbad's autopsy couldn't determine cause of death.


According to Wahab Shittu (SAN),  while addressing journalists at the coroner’s inquest held in Lagos State on Wednesday, the pathologist in charge of the autopsy had stated that the cause of death could not be determined because as at the time they conducted the test, the body had decomposed and it was not possible for them to determine the cause of death.
