Military judge suppresses Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s FBI confession in 9/11 case A military judge has excluded a confession that alleged Sept. 11 attacks mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave to FBI agents nearly 20 years ago, ruling that the statements were not made voluntarily. The decision is a setback for the U.S. government's long-running effort to prosecute Mohammed, who is accused of helping develop the plot to hijack planes and crash them into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Mohammed remains detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, alongside other defendants awaiting trial. Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, the judge overseeing the case, scheduled a June 2028 trial for Mohammed and three other defendants earlier this week. In an order issued Friday that has not been made public, Schrama barred prosecutors from using statements Mohammed made during four days of FBI questioning at Guantanamo in January 2007.  Merger: Obi Meeting With Kwankwaso, Others Ahead Of 2027 –Dr Yusuf Tanko

Dr Yusuf Tanko, the former spokesperson of Peter Obi Presidential campaign in the 2023 elections, has said that former Anambra governor has been meeting with political gladiators in the country, including the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Tanko stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He said that Nigerians needed a merger in 2027 that would take them out of the woods.

Tanko said, “Obi has been meeting with owners of industries, technocrats, students and political gladiators.

“There are quiet a number of them that have been reached out to, for example Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who is a good political gladiator. We had met with him.

“We had meetings with different individuals and political parties like SDP and ADC. Most of the political parties will be reached out to. They are already having meetings among themselves.

“You need to have a conglomerate of grounded political parties who are interested in getting Nigeria out of the wood.”

However, a former federal lawmaker, Tajjuddeen Yusuf, says he does not see the possibilty of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar merging with Obi in 2027.

He said, “They worked together in 2019. It would not be out of place if they work together again. However, I don’t see their minds, but I don’t see the possibility.

“They met few days ago. After the meeting, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar came out to say that he would continue to contest as long as he is alive and healthy.

“To me, that was to send the signal to especially the people who may have the notion that he would step down for Obi. A statement a week later clarified that. I believe both Atiku and Obi will contest.”
