Dr Yusuf Tanko, the former spokesperson of Peter Obi Presidential campaign in the 2023 elections, has said that former Anambra governor has been meeting with political gladiators in the country, including the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peopleās Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Tanko stated this during an interview on Channels TVās Politics Today.
He said that Nigerians needed a merger in 2027 that would take them out of the woods.
Tanko said, āObi has been meeting with owners of industries, technocrats, students and political gladiators.
āThere are quiet a number of them that have been reached out to, for example Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who is a good political gladiator. We had met with him.
āWe had meetings with different individuals and political parties like SDP and ADC. Most of the political parties will be reached out to. They are already having meetings among themselves.
āYou need to have a conglomerate of grounded political parties who are interested in getting Nigeria out of the wood.ā
However, a former federal lawmaker, Tajjuddeen Yusuf, says he does not see the possibilty of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar merging with Obi in 2027.
He said, āThey worked together in 2019. It would not be out of place if they work together again. However, I donāt see their minds, but I donāt see the possibility.
āThey met few days ago. After the meeting, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar came out to say that he would continue to contest as long as he is alive and healthy.
āTo me, that was to send the signal to especially the people who may have the notion that he would step down for Obi. A statement a week later clarified that. I believe both Atiku and Obi will contest.ā
