  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. MAN ARRESTED AFTER BURNING HIS FEMALE COMPANION ALIVE IN MPUMALANGA. (PHOTO)

 Man arrested after burning his female companion alive in Mpumalanga 


During the incident, it is said that the suspect poured some flammable liquid on the woman, before she was saved by her neighbours. The woman is currently fighting for her life in hospital meanwhile the men and women in Blue responded swiftly, where they traced and arrested the male suspect, few hours later.


According to a report, in the early hours of yesterday, 20 August 2024 around 03h00 am, neighbours were woken up by some noise of a woman screaming for help.


When they went out to investigate, they saw a woman in agony, inside the flames of fire whilst her male companion was busy pouring her with some liquid from a two-litre container.


When he realized that the neighbours were coming to her rescue, the man abandoned what he was doing then fled the scene. 


The neighbours did their best to extinguish the fire whilst the female victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment.


Police were alerted about the incident and a case of attempted murder has since been opened. Police immediately commenced with the investigation, leading to the suspect being apprehended on the same day of the incident  (in the evening of Tuesday, 20 August 2024).


The suspect is expected to appear at Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 22 August 2024 facing charges of attempted murder.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
