 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. WHO AFRICAN: DR FAUSTINE ENGELBERT NDUGULILE ELECTED NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR. (PHOTO).

 WHO African: Dr Faustine Engelbert Ndugulile Elected New Regional Director 


Dr Faustine Engelbert Ndugulile of Tanzania has been nominated as the next Regional Director for the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region. He takes over from Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, who has served two five-year terms at the helm.


African Member States voted to nominate Dr. Ndugulile during the seventy-fourth session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. 


Other candidates were Dr Boureima Hama Sambo of Niger, Dr Ibrahima Socé Fall of Senegal and Dr Richard Mihigo of Rwanda.


Dr Ndugulile's nomination will be submitted for appointment by the 156th session of the WHO Executive Board, which wilp place in February 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. The newly appointed Regional Director will take office thereafter for a five-year term renewal once.
