 LAWMA SEALS PREMISES ON AGO PALACE WAY, ARRESTS 11 DUMPERS ON LAGOS ISLAND … Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Waste Disposal In renewed enforcement efforts, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed premises identified for persistent illegal waste dumping along Ago Palace Way and arrested 11 persons for illegal waste disposal in various parts of Lagos Island. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said that the enforcement operations underscored the Authority’s resolve to enforce existing waste management regulations and ensure compliance with approved waste disposal practices across Lagos. He explained that the Ago Palace Way operation covered plazas, hotels, lounges and warehouses along the corridor, as part of efforts to tackle activities contributing to waste build-up and environmental nuisance on road setbacks, medians and other unauthorised public spaces.  Jimmy Carter, 100, Casts Ballot For Kamala Harris In 2024 Election


Jimmy Carter  voted by mail today in the 2024 presidential election, fulfilling a goal as he remains in hospice care and passed his 100th birthday earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Carter Center confirmed that the former president cast his ballot, but provided no other details.

The ballot was put in a drop box at the Sumter County Courthouse near Plains, GA, where he lives.

Jason Carter, his grandson, told ABC News this week that the former president planned to vote for Kamala Harris.Jason Carter had said during the summer that his grandfather had a goal of living long enough to vote for Harris.


Carter’s son, Chip, told Atlanta Journal Constitution that his father “absolutely” voted for Harris. His wife, Becky, dropped off the ballot at the dropbox.


Carter’s three Democratic successors — Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden — have been campaigning for Harris. Clinton, Obama and Biden today were attending the funeral of Ethel Kennedy at Washington’s Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle.


Carter became the longest living U.S. president on March 22, 2019, when he was 94. He celebrated his 100th birthday on Oct. 1.
