Lagos Assembly Denies Awarding N17bn Gate Contract The Lagos State House of Assembly has dismissed as baseless allegations made by an anti-corruption group that it awarded a N17 billion contract for the construction of its gate. In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr. Stephen Ogundipe, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Security, and Strategy, clarified that the project in question was completed over three years ago and that no recent gate construction had taken place. The Lagos State Anti-Corruption Coalition had recently written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), requesting an investigation into the alleged contract. Ogundipe labeled the petition as frivolous and politically motivated, designed to tarnish the reputation of the Assembly.
