 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Every year the Met Gala brings together an incredible crowd of fashion designers, models, and the brightest stars of music and film in celebration of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” is this year’s show, and it draws from the Costume Institute’s own permanent collection to highlight the multi-sensory experience of wearing clothes. “Fashion is one of the most emotional artistic forms because of its connection to the body,” Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, explained in a recent interview. “It is imbued with memory and emotions, and we relate to it very much via our senses. One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.”

On the 2024 Met Gala red carpet, it is co-chairs Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth—all of whom can be frequently found on best-dressed lists—that will be setting the tone for the evening. This year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” promises a myriad of interpretations, which are sure to yield many looks that surprise and delight.
