FASHION FROM THE 2024 MET GALA. (PHOTOS)

 Every year the Met Gala brings together an incredible crowd of fashion designers, models, and the brightest stars of music and film in celebration of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition. “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” is this year’s show, and it draws from the Costume Institute’s own permanent collection to highlight the multi-sensory experience of wearing clothes. “Fashion is one of the most emotional artistic forms because of its connection to the body,” Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, explained in a recent interview. “It is imbued with memory and emotions, and we relate to it very much via our senses. One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.”

On the 2024 Met Gala red carpet, it is co-chairs Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth—all of whom can be frequently found on best-dressed lists—that will be setting the tone for the evening. This year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” promises a myriad of interpretations, which are sure to yield many looks that surprise and delight.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
