A devastating storm in Umuahia, Abia State, caused the roof of the Methodist Church Nigeria, All Saints Cathedral, to collapse, but miraculously, no lives were lost. The incident occurred during a powerful windstorm that preceded an evening downpour, leaving many in shock. The collapse happened while youths of the church were holding a meeting inside the cathedral. Despite the terrifying incident, all attendees managed to escape unharmed, except for one person who sustained minor injuries. The storm's fierce winds also uprooted economic trees, brought down electric poles, and damaged the roofs of several residential buildings in the area. The Bishop of Umuahia East Diocese, Rt. Rev. Best Okike, lamented the extent of the damage, noting that the storm struck unexpectedly. "The tornado had destroyed everything," Bishop Okike said.  Colombia president says will not accept US deportation flights

Colombiaā€™s left-wing President Gustavo Petro said Sunday he would not allow US migrant deportation flights access to his countryā€™s airspace.

ā€œThe United States cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals. I forbid entry to our territory to US planes carrying Colombian migrants,ā€ Petro wrote on X, adding they would only be accepted once Washington had created a protocol ensuring the ā€œdignified treatmentā€ of the migrants.

Petro added in a later post that he had ā€œturned back US military planes that were coming with Colombian migrants,ā€ without giving further details.

AFP could not immediately receive confirmation from the United States that Colombian-bound deportation flights had been blocked.

Petroā€™s remarks come a day after Brazilā€™s government similarly expressed outrage at the administration of new US president Donald Trump over the treatment of dozens of Brazilians deported from the United States.

The migrants were handcuffed on the flight in what Brazil called a ā€œflagrant disregardā€ for their basic rights.

Petro said he would allow in civilian US flights carrying deported migrants as long as they were not treated ā€œlike criminals.ā€
