 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  Los Angeles fires: Trump accuses California leaders of incompetence.


The incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Sunday accused California officials of incompetence over their handling of deadly wildfires raging across Los Angeles.


In a post on on his Truth Social platform, Trump said incompetent politicians have no idea how to put out the raging fires.


“This is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country. They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” he asked.


According to Trump, the speed and intensity of the blazes ravaging Los Angeles have tested firefighting infrastructure and given rise to questions and criticism about the state’s preparedness.


It was gathered that hydrants ran dry in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood as it was ravaged by one of the region’s five separate fires, while water shortages additionally hampered efforts elsewhere.


With just over a week before he returns to the White House, Trump has launched a series of evidence-free broadsides, accusing California’s Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom, of failings in response to the blazes.


Meanwhile, Newsom has invited Trump to visit Los Angeles and survey the devastation with him.
