 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough.  Los Angeles fires: Trump accuses California leaders of incompetence.


The incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Sunday accused California officials of incompetence over their handling of deadly wildfires raging across Los Angeles.


In a post on on his Truth Social platform, Trump said incompetent politicians have no idea how to put out the raging fires.


“This is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country. They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” he asked.


According to Trump, the speed and intensity of the blazes ravaging Los Angeles have tested firefighting infrastructure and given rise to questions and criticism about the state’s preparedness.


It was gathered that hydrants ran dry in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood as it was ravaged by one of the region’s five separate fires, while water shortages additionally hampered efforts elsewhere.


With just over a week before he returns to the White House, Trump has launched a series of evidence-free broadsides, accusing California’s Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom, of failings in response to the blazes.


Meanwhile, Newsom has invited Trump to visit Los Angeles and survey the devastation with him.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
