 Constitutional Council confirms Djibouti president's 97% vote win Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh was officially confirmed as winner of a sixth straight election with a final tally of 97.01% of the vote, the Constitutional Council said on Tuesday, AFP reported. Guelleh, 78, has governed the strategically important country in the Horn of Africa since 1999. Initial results a few hours after the April 10 vote showed he had taken 97.81%, against just one opponent. "In this election, President Guelleh obtained 97.01 percent of the vote, for a total of 204,874 votes cast. His main opponent, Mohamed Farah Samatar, received 6,318 votes, or 2.99% of the total," Djibouti's official press agency said, citing the Constitutional Council. Strategic location Djibouti borders the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which provides access to the Red Sea from the Gulf of Aden, through which passes a large portion of trade between Asia and the West.  NDLEA Anambra State Command Visits Anambra East Mayor

The Chairman, Anambra East LGA, Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze, has emphasized the need to eradicate hard drug abuse in the region during a courtesy visit from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Anambra State Command. 


He urged the NDLEA team to regularly visit the area to combat drug abuse and suggested organizing seminars to educate residents about the dangers of hard drugs.


The Anambra State NDLEA Commander, Mr. Daniel Ogbomna, highlighted the agency's efforts to combat drug abuse in collaboration with local governments. He noted that they are working tirelessly to reduce drug trafficking and abuse, and have established drug-free clubs in schools, organized quiz competitions, and collaborated with community leaders and parents to achieve their goals.


Ogbomna also urged the mayor to support efforts to make Anambra East a drug-free local government area.
