 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates. A video of a yet-to-be-identified police orderly, seen holding bundles of cash for the sons of industrialist billionaire Chief Razak Akanni Okoya, has sparked reactions on social media.

The viral video in question shows the constable standing with the boys who's seen making a social media video, whilst they dance and sprayed the money to the song playing at the background.

Reacting to the video, some Nigerians took to social media to express disgust at how the police personnel threw himself willingly to be used, saying such actions bring disrespect to the force.

Others, however, faulted the top echelon of the force for prioritising the security of a few wealthy people while the poor masses who are in need of protection from the insecurity that has bedevilled the country, are left out.
