 Arsenal set to open new contract talks with Saka Arsenal are set to open formal talks with Bukayo Saka over a new contract as the forward enters the final two years of his current deal. Saka has been unavailable since December after sustaining a serious hamstring tear in the victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park - an injury that eventually required surgery. But his importance to Mikel Arteta's team remains unquestioned with the club preparing to meet the player's representatives over a contract extension.Arsenal want to avoid any uncertainty regarding their star player's future and will make securing Saka to a longer contract one of their top priorities.  Police Arrest Officer for Shooting Former Bauchi LG Chairman


The Nigeria Police Force Zone 12 Command has confirmed the arrest of a police officer accused of shooting and injuring Alhaji Danlami Alhassan, a former Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area in Bauchi State.


Zone 12 Police Public Relations Officer, Thomas Goni, stated that the officer involved has been identified and is in custody, assuring the public of a thorough and impartial investigation.


“The officer will face disciplinary action according to Force guidelines. We are addressing this matter with the seriousness it deserves,” Goni said, adding that the incident has raised community concerns and prompted a review of police training and protocols to prevent future occurrences.


Recounting the incident, Alhassan explained that it happened on Sunday at about 9:30 p.m. near the Wunti Market in Bauchi. The officer’s identity was uncovered after a bag containing his police ID card, teargas canisters, and other equipment fell from his motorcycle.


Alhassan, who sustained injuries, was treated at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital and later discharged. He said he was on his way to purchase suya (roasted meat) when the shooting occurred.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
