 Nigeria Posts $6.83bn Balance of Payments Surplus in 2024 — CBN The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a $6.83 billion Balance of Payments surplus for 2024, reversing deficits recorded in the previous two years. In a statement on Wednesday, the apex bank attributed the surplus to macroeconomic reforms, improved trade performance, and stronger investor confidence. Key highlights include a $13.17 billion trade surplus, a 48.3% surge in gas exports, and $20.93 billion in personal remittances. Portfolio investments more than doubled to $13.35 billion, while foreign reserves rose by $6 billion to $40.19 billion. Despite a 42.3% drop in FDI, the CBN said the overall outlook remains strong, citing improved data accuracy and the success of FX market reforms.

Following the Commissioner of Police *CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD,* commitment to end sit-at-home, today 24th February 2025, witnessed a massive deployment of security personnel to different strategic and identified areas as Police and other security forces intensified patrols toward security dominance in the State. 


The *CP* while hailing *Ndi Anambra* and the State Government through the launch of _Operation Udo Ga Chi__ by collectively joining voices to condemn any act that threatens our national peace has resolved to explore every necessary legal strategy and to constantly review both kinetic and non-kinetic steps taken towards stabilizing the security of the State. 


This enhanced security presence involves:


1. Increased patrols and surveillance

2. Strategic deployment of personnel and resources

3. Intelligence gathering and community engagement.

4. Proactive measures to prevent and respond timely to crimes.


This goal is to deter criminal activities, build trust with the community, and provide a secure atmosphere for economic and social growth.
