 African Airlines record 5.7% decreased demand for air cargo in February — IATA African airlines recorded a 5.7% year-on-year decline in air cargo demand in February 2025, with capacity decreasing by 0.6% in the same period. Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), dropped by 0.4%, although international operations saw a 1.1% increase. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) report showed that global capacity decreased by 0.4%, with international operations showing a slight increase of 0.4% in demand. Globally, air cargo demand fell by 0.1% compared to February 2024, marking the first decline since mid-2023. “African airlines saw a 5.7% year-on-year decrease in demand for air cargo in February. Capacity decreased by 0.6% year-on-year,” the report read in part.  Kenyan MP charged with forging university certificates


A Kenyan lawmaker has been charged with forging university certificates, according to the public prosecutor.


George Koimburi, was charged on Wednesday with three counts of forging academic certificates and three more for uttering false documents.


Koimburi is a member of parliament representing Juja constituency that is located in the outskirts of the capital, Nairobi. He denied that charges and was released on a cash bail.


The prosecution said the lawmaker allegedly forged his high school certificate and two certificates of participation for courses he took at a university located in his constituency.


Kenyan law stipulates that candidates for parliamentary seats must be high school leavers.


Cases against Kenyan lawmakers accused of forging academic certificates are common, although they are rarely prosecuted successfully.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
