The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired.  Politicians Defecting To APC Amid Hardship Lack Conscience—Tambuwal

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has expressed his disappointment and concern over the recent defections of members from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the Northwest Zonal meeting of the PDP held at Hotel 17, Kaduna, on Saturday, Tambuwal attributed the defections to “stomach infrastructure” rather than the interest of the people.

“People leave parties for certain reasons or different reasons, but what I have been observing in the past are defections not based on the interest of the people but based on stomach infrastructure,” Tambuwal said.

According to him, “If you are talking about defecting in the interest of the people, I believe no one can go to the APC. If you are a politician with a conscience, with the current policies being driven by the government of the APC and the current economic doldrum that the APC has driven Nigerians into hardship across the country and the dismal performance of the Tinubu administration, there is nothing attractive outside stomach infrastructure.”

Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South Senatorial District in the Senate, questioned the motivation behind the defections, stating that no politician with a conscience would join the APC given its current policies and the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.

“So, those based on stomach infrastructure are not worrisome. It is for all of us who believe in this country, who believe in the service of the people, to continue to come together and work out something that will ensure that by 2027, we ease out this administration that lacks focus, that has no compassion, that does not have any direction and that is riderless,” he said.

The senator urged like-minded Nigerians to come together and work towards ensuring that the APC was voted out by 2027.

Meanwhile, the PDP in Northwest has reiterated its commitment to providing leadership and moving the country forward, vowing to oust the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in Nigeria.

According to a communique read by Alhaji Bello Gwarzo, the Northwest Zonal Chairman, the party resolved to take its rightful position at the national level and provide leadership to move the country forward.

The meeting emphasised the need to swiftly resolve all issues of conflict at the national level, as the country looks up to the PDP for leadership.

Despite the fallout of the 2023 election, the party acknowledged its strong grassroots support and overwhelming national followership, which should be mobilised for success in 2027.

“We urge all party members to be patient and heed the advice of elders to solve problems and ensure success in the 2027 election,” the communique stated.

Furthermore, the party resolved to work together to oust the APC from power in Nigeria, saying that “in the Northwest, all hands will be on deck to make sure that we clear the bad leadership of the APC in Nigeria.”

Notable dignitaries attended the party’s Northwest Zonal meeting, including former Kaduna State Governor Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and PDP National Youth Leader Muhammed Kadade Suleiman.

Other notable personalities present at the meeting include the Zonal party chairman, Bello Gwarzo; the party’s governorship candidate in Jigawa state in 2023, Mustapha Sule Lamido; and Sadique Ango Abdullahi, a member of the House of Representatives.
