 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state. ABIA STATE TO REBUILD ARIARIA POLICE STATION, DESTROYED DURING END SARS PROTEST. (PHOTO).


 


The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Abia State, Iheanyi Igboanulam, has announced that resources are being mobilized to rebuild the Ariaria Police Station, which was destroyed during the End SARS protest. Igboanulam made this known during the monthly security meeting of the PCRC Abia State, held at the Police Officers Mess in Umuahia.


In addition to rebuilding the Ariaria Police Station, Igboanulam revealed that community consultations have commenced to revive the Umuopara Police Division. He expressed gratitude to PCRC members for their support, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for achieving success. "Nothing will be achieved without your individual and collective support," Igboanulam said.


The PCRC Chairman also urged members to prepare for the forthcoming 41st anniversary of the committee. Furthermore, he announced that the PCRC has been formally registered as a cooperative society, enabling divisions to access grants and benefits from the government and donor agencies.


Chairman Emeritus Ambassador Emma Nwosu and Patron of PCRC Abayi Division Ambassador Ngozi Ukaegbu commended the state leadership of PCRC for their outstanding work and pledged continued support to elevate the committee. The monthly security meeting featured security reports from Eziama, Central Police Station Umuahia, and Isuikwuato Divisions.
