 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. ABIA STATE TO REBUILD ARIARIA POLICE STATION, DESTROYED DURING END SARS PROTEST. (PHOTO).

The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Abia State, Iheanyi Igboanulam, has announced that resources are being mobilized to rebuild the Ariaria Police Station, which was destroyed during the End SARS protest. Igboanulam made this known during the monthly security meeting of the PCRC Abia State, held at the Police Officers Mess in Umuahia.


In addition to rebuilding the Ariaria Police Station, Igboanulam revealed that community consultations have commenced to revive the Umuopara Police Division. He expressed gratitude to PCRC members for their support, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for achieving success. "Nothing will be achieved without your individual and collective support," Igboanulam said.


The PCRC Chairman also urged members to prepare for the forthcoming 41st anniversary of the committee. Furthermore, he announced that the PCRC has been formally registered as a cooperative society, enabling divisions to access grants and benefits from the government and donor agencies.


Chairman Emeritus Ambassador Emma Nwosu and Patron of PCRC Abayi Division Ambassador Ngozi Ukaegbu commended the state leadership of PCRC for their outstanding work and pledged continued support to elevate the committee. The monthly security meeting featured security reports from Eziama, Central Police Station Umuahia, and Isuikwuato Divisions.
