 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Delta State Government Withdraws Query Against Nursing Student Over Viral Video


The Delta State Government has withdrawn a query issued to Osato Edobor, a student of the School of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, over her involvement in a viral social media video during the recent visit of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. The state's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, confirmed the withdrawal in a statement, emphasizing the government's commitment to upholding students' rights and ensuring a conducive learning environment.


Onojaeme assured the public that the government had no intention of victimizing Edobor, stating, "We don't want to victimize any of the students." He also revealed that he personally contacted Edobor to confirm the withdrawal of the disciplinary action, which was withdrawn the previous night.
