 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Israeli attack on Beirut blatant violation of ceasefire – Iran


Iran has condemned the Israeli strikes on Beirut, calling them a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei made this known in a statement on Saturday.

“The excuses made by the Zionist regime for justifying the aggression against Lebanon are totally baseless and unjustifiable,” Baqaei said.

He also called on the international community to “make decisive plans to counter the occupying regime’s constant law-breaking in the region—from Gaza to Lebanon and Syria—and the regime’s growing threats against international peace and security.”

The Israeli military carried out several airstrikes on southern Beirut on Friday after a rocket attack was launched at Israel from southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah has denied involvement in the incident and has not responded to the Israeli assaults.
