 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s far-right National Rally (RN), faces a critical ruling on Monday, as a judge will decide whether she should be banned from the 2027 presidential election. This stems from a trial over alleged misuse of EU funds to pay party salaries. The prosecutor recommended both a €300,000 fine and a prison sentence for Le Pen, alongside a five-year ban from public office, with the ban taking effect immediately if convicted.


The outcome is seen as crucial for Le Pen’s political future, with some arguing that preventing her from running could undermine democracy. Many commentators fear that giving judges the power to decide who can stand for election could have dangerous consequences for France’s democratic process. Le Pen remains confident that the court won't go as far as to block her candidacy.
