Nine surveyors kidnapped in the Ilu-Abo community of Akure North LGA, Ondo State, have regained their freedom following a ransom payment of N20 million. Their release was confirmed by Ajibade Owolanke, a relative of High Chief Oluwole Omotayo, who stated that the victims were freed on Tuesday night after the kidnappers received the payment.
The surveyors were abducted while working on-site, with the kidnappers initially demanding N100 million before reducing it to N50 million. However, the victimsā families managed to gather N20 million for their release.
Meanwhile, women in Akure took to the streets on Tuesday, protesting the rising cases of kidnappings and killings in the state, calling for urgent action from authorities.
