 Nigeria's Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Amid Surge in Attacks on Military Bases Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has urgently summoned the nation's top military leaders to a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. The session addresses the escalating attacks targeting military installations, particularly in the North East region. The meeting includes key figures such as: - Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede - Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu - Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke - Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass - Representatives from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) The summons comes in response to recent deadly assaults by terrorists on military bases in the North East.  632 Suspects Arrested in Limpopo During Operation Shanela (Kukula)


Police in Limpopo arrested 632 suspects during Operation Shanela (Kukula), held from 14 to 20 April 2025. The operation aimed to keep communities safe during the Easter holidays.


Different law enforcement units, including SAPS, SANDF, Home Affairs, and traffic officers, took part.


During the operation: 34 illegal liquor outlets were closed, 23 roadblocks were held, 570 premises and 265 farms were searched, 213 second-hand shops were inspected and 2 firearms were recovered.


Arrests included:


188 illegal immigrants, 37 for drunk driving, 4 for illegal firearms, 2 for murder, 4 for rape, 30 for illegal liquor sales, 3 for drug dealing and 15 for dangerous weapons

72 for assault GBH.


The suspects are already appearing in courts across the province.
