 El-Rufai’s Eye Condition Worsening In ICPC Custody, Aide Alleges The media aide to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Muyiwa Adekeye, has expressed concern over what he described as the worsening eye condition of his principal while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Adekeye also accused the anti-corruption agency of failing to provide El-Rufai with adequate medical care despite repeated complaints about his health. In a statement issued on Friday, Adekeye said the former governor had reported symptoms including swollen, red, and itchy eyes while in detention and had requested medical attention. According to him, family members who visited El-Rufai noticed the condition and alerted ICPC officials, urging them to allow him access to medical treatment.  Foreign National Caught with Illegal Explosives at Beitbridge Border


A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Friday, 16 May 2025, for possession of illegal explosives.


The suspect was caught during a routine search at around 06:30 when a police dog detected suspicious items hidden in red 50kg polyester bags inside a trailer. The trailer was being towed by a white Toyota Quantum.


Members of the Musina Explosives Unit were called to the scene and found the following items:


6 reels of detonating fuses


2,505 Superpower


90 blasting cartridges


100 Carmex connector capped fuses


The suspect was charged for violating the Explosives Act and is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. The explosives were secured and samples have been sent for forensic testing.


Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were meant to be transported to Cape Town.
