 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  Foreign National Caught with Illegal Explosives at Beitbridge Border


A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Friday, 16 May 2025, for possession of illegal explosives.


The suspect was caught during a routine search at around 06:30 when a police dog detected suspicious items hidden in red 50kg polyester bags inside a trailer. The trailer was being towed by a white Toyota Quantum.


Members of the Musina Explosives Unit were called to the scene and found the following items:


6 reels of detonating fuses


2,505 Superpower


90 blasting cartridges


100 Carmex connector capped fuses


The suspect was charged for violating the Explosives Act and is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. The explosives were secured and samples have been sent for forensic testing.


Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were meant to be transported to Cape Town.
