 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. FOREIGN NATIONAL CAUGHT WITH ILLEGAL EXPLOSIVES AT BEITBRIDGE BORDER. (PHOTO).

 Foreign National Caught with Illegal Explosives at Beitbridge Border


A 28-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Friday, 16 May 2025, for possession of illegal explosives.


The suspect was caught during a routine search at around 06:30 when a police dog detected suspicious items hidden in red 50kg polyester bags inside a trailer. The trailer was being towed by a white Toyota Quantum.


Members of the Musina Explosives Unit were called to the scene and found the following items:


6 reels of detonating fuses


2,505 Superpower


90 blasting cartridges


100 Carmex connector capped fuses


The suspect was charged for violating the Explosives Act and is expected to appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 May 2025. The explosives were secured and samples have been sent for forensic testing.


Preliminary investigations suggest the explosives were meant to be transported to Cape Town.
