 [ASSEN SAPS MEMBERS ASSIST WOMAN IN GIVING BIRTH AT POLICE STATION] Assen SAPS members assisted a female suspect who went into labour at the police station on Thursday, 8 October 2026, helping her deliver a healthy baby girl before she and the newborn were taken to a medical facility. According to reports, members were on duty at Assen SAPS under the command of Sergeant Chidi, when they received a telephone call regarding the arrest of a female suspect at Msholozi informal settlement in Kameeldrift. Constable Olivier and Constable Mokhutshoane responded to the call and arrested the suspect, who was reportedly in good health and had no visible injuries at the time of the arrest. She was subsequently taken to Assen SAPS. While at the police station, the suspect began experiencing labour pains and an ambulance was immediatly summond.  Limpopo radio DJ arrested for allegedly raping a minor relative


A 34-year-old prominent radio personality from the Vhembe District, Limpopo, has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 06-year-old relative at her residence in Mpheni Block B.


The suspect, who works as a DJ at a radio station based in Thohoyandou, was apprehended on Monday following a thorough investigation by Waterval SAPS detectives.


He made his initial appearance before the Waterval Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, where proceedings were postponed to 27 May 2025 for a formal bail application.


Police reports indicate that the incident allegedly occurred on 12 May 2025 at approximately 15:30. The girl's mother, who was in Pretoria at the time, was notified by the child's grandmother that the minor was unwell.


Upon returning home immediately, she learned that the child had already been taken to the hospital, where medical examination confirmed sexual assault.


During subsequent interviews, the child disclosed that the suspect had shown inappropriate material before committing the alleged assault.
