 FG Reaffirms Commitment To Operationalize Sokoto Hajj Airport Ahead Of 2026 Pilgrimage The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development announced that the Sokoto State Hajj Airport is set to become operational ahead of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. The Minister of Aviation and Eerospace Festus Keyamo reaffirmed this commitment during a meeting with Sokoto State Governor Dr. Ahmed Aliyu. Keyamo highlighted Sokoto's importance for Hajj operations and assured that relevant agencies are working to meet necessary infrastructure and operational requirements. He directed officials to identify and address potential bottlenecks. Governor Aliyu says the airport project is 90% completed and funded by the state government with five aircraft being acquired. He appealed for expedited approvals to operationalize the airport for the 2026 Hajj. The Ministry remains committed to enhancing aviation infrastructure under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. One more photo below...

AGF denies FG's involvement in First Holdco Share Acquisition


We are compelled to respond to a publication by ThisDay Newspaper of July 17, 2025, and Arise TV suggesting that 25% of First Bank Holdings (First Holdco) shares were transferred to the Federal Government of Nigeria's (FGN) trustee. 


The report is inaccurate, misleading, resentful and malicious.


Neither the Federal Government of Nigeria nor the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice participated in acquiring the shares in question. 


The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice debunks this falsehood to prevent confusion or misconceptions about First Holdco's ownership and governance. 


The circumstances surrounding the shareholding structure are distinct from any government involvement. 


However,  it is aware of a trustee set up by the First Holdco, with the CBN approving Stanbic IBTC to oversee it as a third party. 


We urge the media to exercise restraint, professionalism, and due diligence in carrying out their duties to avoid violating the law.


We assure the public of continuous commitment to the promotion of the Rule of Law, Justice, equity, accountability, transparency and service to the nation by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
